“Free sailing for members.”(SM) The Sailboat Club™ provides
the lowest cost alternative for local sailors. Members pay
monthly dues and have unlimited, free use of the club’s fleet of
sailboats, located throughout the First Coast. For less than the
cost of renting a boat slip, members have ten (or more) boats,
and enjoy sailing without the expense or hassle of boat ownership,
maintenance, insurance, or worries about hurricane damage.
Plus, the club’s Crew-Matching service helps insure that
every skipper can find crew when they want to sail. Monthly
“Open Sail” invites club members to meet on the water, with
shoreside socials to help members network with other skippers
and crew. The Sailboat Club boat locations allow access to the
Atlantic and Intracoastal Waterway, from Matanzas Inlet south
of St. Augustine to Cumberland Sound north of Fernandina
Beach, and the beautiful St. Johns River, from the shrimp boat
capital of Mayport Village to Jacksonville and south to historic
Palatka. The sailing school is certified by the American Sailing
Association. All instructors are ASA Certified and are Coast
Guard licensed Captains. All ASA courses from Basic Keelboat
Sailing through Advanced Coastal Cruising and Celestial Navigation
are offered, with many courses taking a “mentoring” approach
instead of fixed class schedules. Crewed charters and
bareboat rentals are available. Boats are located at Camachee
Island in St. Augustine, Palm Cove in Jax Beach, Julington
Creek Pier 3 in Mandarin, Doctors Lake in Orange Park, Lamb’s
Marina in Ortega, the Trout River in Jacksonville, and (soon) in
